The Slimming Craze of 2008 – Lovell’s Lunchbox Diet
Simon Lovell is a personal trainer who created the Lunch Box Diet. This diet has been described by one of the most popular magazines in America as one that’s becoming the biggest slimming craze. This program is based on the idea of loading a lunchbox with nutritious foods and eating the contents during the day. It encourages taking small snacks every once in a while throughout the day until satisfaction is reached, instead of eating three large meals. By eating food in smaller amounts, the stomach will compress and will, little by little, become small which will reduce the tendencies of overeating. The program teaches us to include in our lunchboxes thirty percent of protein, ten percent of salad dressings or condiments, and sixty percent of vegetables.
The program recommends the following foods: asparagus, avocado, balsamic vinegar, beetroot, broccoli, chili pepper, chicken or turkey breast, cod fish, peas, and zucchini. Since people have different health needs, the program also recommends whole-grain breads, brown rice, and pasta to dieters who have physically-active lifestyles.
Like other diet programs, Lovell Lunchbox Diet may not be the right diet that suits one’s daily activities. So before embarking on this diet, one must know the strengths and weaknesses of the program.
Strengths:
• The program would do its magic among people who have no time counting calories and planning their meals.
• Since it does not prohibit snacking, it will also work best for those who love to take snacks throughout the day and those who are used to skipping lunch.
• It is a very flexible program as it allows the dieter to choose the foods he wants to eat. Since it is not at all complicated, it can be adjusted to cater to the dieter’s needs.
• This program has the right glycemic index levels which can aid in keeping energy levels steady during the most exhausting hour of the day.
Weaknesses:
• There is no sufficient guidance on how to carry out this program.
• Calorie intake is not monitored so there is a possibility that one’s calorie intake would be excessive.
